ADB donors approve a US $7 billion replenishment for ADF IX

For the first time ever the ADF fund will provide a grants facility, allowing up to 21 percent of its operations to be in the form of grants.

On May 13, 2004 ADB donors approved a replenishment for the Asian Development Fund (ADF), the concessional lending window of the ADB, in the amount of US $7 billion, an increase from the previous replenishment of US $5.65 billion. This replenishment will cover a 4-year period from 2005-2008. It includes a first-time contribution from China and a renewal of support from Malaysia. In addition, this replenishment includes the introduction of grants, which can represent up to 21 percent of total ADF IX operations.
