Tools for Activists: An Information and Advocacy Guide to the World Bank Group

After twenty years of monitoring the Bank, BIC believes that without independent public monitoring and pressure, the gap between the World Bank's rhetoric and reality will remain wide and may in fact expand. That is why we have developed the Tools for Activists.

We hope to increase civil society influence in development decision-making by empowering people with essential information about:

1. What the World Bank is

2. How it works in your country

3. What your rights to information are & how to use them

4. What environmental and social standards the World Bank must uphold, and

5. What to do when it doesn't

We hope that the Toolkits will ultimately help people around the world find a way to promote and defend their rights in the context of development decisions.
